How to Increase Productivity at Work?

How to Increase Productivity at Work?

Time is the most valuable asset. You cannot increase the time you gave in a day but you can, however, increase the amount of work done in the limited time that you do have. Just designating more hours to work isn’t always the best solution.

So how do you improve your productivity at work? Here are a few tips that will help you get most out of your time.

Don’t try to do everything yourself

Being independent is a good thing, being shy might not be. While it is admirable to be able to do all the tasks you are given on your own, sometimes you will get more work done if you ask for help from a colleague. Don’t be afraid to ask for little favors once in a while from your colleagues. If you try to do everything yourself you will often stress yourself too much and that can reduce your productivity.

Set self-imposed deadlines

Stress might be considered a bad thing but in little doses it can act as a motivator. Self-imposed deadlines can offer you the push you need to boost your productivity. Deadlines create a sense of urgency and that helps you achieve your goals with better time efficiency. These are especially useful for projects that have no set deadlines.

Take regular breaks

Regular breaks are necessary if you intend to maintain your level of performance. While this may seem counterintuitive it does work. Working for long hours without breaks will result in decrease in your performance level over time. It will be more productive if you take short breaks at regular intervals.

Maintain a to-do list

This is probably the most overstated tip in increasing productivity. That is because it is an effective tip. Having a list of tasks that you have to complete by the day helps you keep organized and motivated. Striking off an item from the to-do list can lift your mood up. You will be better prepared to tackle the next task in the list.

Reduce distractions

Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, Instagram, etc. are the worst distractions of today’s life. If you have an account on any of these sites it is more than likely that you will be constantly checking for updates from your friends or followers. You are constantly distracted by these and that will make you lose focus on whatever you’re working on. Scattered focus means reduced productivity. Mute all notifications from these sites when you are working to keep your focus at peak levels.

Another distraction can be checking emails. You don’t have to check every email you get immediately. Designate some time that you will use to read and reply to email. As emails are usually not sent for urgent work, you are safe in delaying to reply to them. If it’s urgent, they can call you.

The “two-minute rule”

The two minute rule is a way to make most out of the little windows of time you get at work. The main idea is: If you notice a task that can be done in two minutes or less, do it immediately. According Steve Olenski, and entrepreneur, completing a task right away will take less time than if you delay it to a later time.

Be smart with meetings

Meetings take up a lot of time from your work day. Most of the meetings are not even relevant to you. They are just a waste of time. So only attend those meetings that you think are important for you. If you have to organize a meeting, only invite those who will be directly affected by the meeting. Others can be informed about the key points in emails or memos.

Another tip is that if you have something short to discuss then have a standing meeting. This is because people are more responsive when they are standing. They will not linger with useless points, if they are standing. You will save a lot of time like this.

Set harder goals

If you are able to complete all you tasks within the set time limit then you can try to add some more items to your to-do list. Sometimes you don’t even realize that you have extra potential until you push yourself further. Try to squeeze in additional goals into your agenda so that you can realize your full potential.

Reward yourself

Reward yourself with food or shopping every time you complete a crucial task. Keep yourself happy and your productivity will automatically increase.  If you complete a very important task, take a holiday, pamper yourself a little. You deserve it.

An Open Letter To Ravana

Dear Ravana,

I missed you a bit yesterday. Every year, we burn your statue up and celebrate truth’s victory over evil. But, that’s not how I recalled you today. I saw some news in a random old newspaper, when I was buying my Jalebi-Faafda. The news was about some girl being raped in some part of India. I’m unable to recall, who the girl was or in which state did it happen…because I’ve become so used to all this. Every evening I switch on the News, and some lady in some part of our country, was raped. We all have become so used to it. But every year, we celebrate your death by saying that good has won over evil. Like, seriously?

I don’t think you are evil. Because you don’t even qualify evil as per today’s standards (talking about standards and qualifications, I know you were a Brahmin…hence in General category, so you won’t get a reserved quota seat either. Sorry!). What you did back then, is ‘Slightly Naughty’ by today’s standards. Kinda, cute for today’s people. Ya…I know…You kidnapped a lady in haste. But what you did after that, is not even thought of by most of the men in this country. You gave the lady more respect, than what we give to a lady in today’s world. You offered her good food…and shelter…and FEMALE Security Guards (But we have to accept…they were ugly!). You respected her dignity by not touching her…or by passing on nasty comments on her, even though you had all the control. Your marriage proposal was full of humility…Atleast you didn’t throw acid on her face when rejected. Even when Lord Rama killed you, you had the guts to accept your mistake and apologize. (Supposing, that the political ‘leaders’ of my country are reading this). Talking about Politics, I know you were more educated than half of our Parliament.

Talking about evil, I hope they broadcasted the Delhi-rape case’s news up there. Followed by, God knows how many, such similar cases. After knowing this, Ravana…evil…LoL.

I remember, as a kid mumma would tell me…’Har insaan me bhagwaan basta hai. Ek din woh bhagwaan baahar aa jaaega…Aur har koi Ram hoga…Har koi Krishna. Phir puri duniya achhi ho jaaegi.’, and I would go to sleep like a baby. Aaj sochta hu…Ram toh dur ki baat…Raavan hi bann jaao….Aisa insaan hone se toh achha hi hai…

No hard feelings dude.
Cheers mate….’Dus sar waale’!

Regards
A modern day Indian man.

3 Reasons Why Entrepreneurship is Risk Free

What is the actual definition of risk ? Is there a risk in entrepreneurship ?

While studying MBA, one of my favourite subjects was entrepreneurship. There has always been something which fascinated me about this word. The case studies I had solved and things I had studied about different aspects of business always inspired to be an entrepreneur. I always wanted to start something on my own right after completing the college. When talking about it with family and friends, I had always been told:

You have got good grades and now have a decent job in some MNC. Starting a business is very risky. Do not end up wasting precious years of your life. Its risky. blah blah..

Instead of being a rebel I took a middle path. After being advised by university professors and industry experts, I decided to take up a job which interested me and was aligned with what I actually wanted to accomplish in the years to come. To understand ground realities of business I also worked in a start up of 9 employees. It has been 2 years since I started my venture with a team of  highly enthusiastic and genius people having expertise in different areas. Some time  ago I just connected the dots back words and tried to find out a pattern of events, mistakes I have made and learning I have got so far. I feel like sharing a different perspective on ‘risk and entrepreneurship’ based on my own experience

I Need to give a disclaimer that  I am neither a professional writer nor a seasoned public speaker. Whatever I am writing here is coming straight from my heart.

Why is there no risk in entrepreneurship?

1. Amount of learning you get

Being the main decision maker of my start up I have been dealing with lot many people. CA for financial things, my Lawyer for legal things, founder of other start ups and customers . It is a tremendous amount of learning which I would have never got working as an employee. Every single day starts with a new challenge and a problem to solve.

2. Professional Network you create during start up phase

As a CEO of my start up I have been dealing with the owners of other IT firms very often regarding various business matters. By now, I know a good amount of decision makers in my own domain. Once I had shared my concern in one of the start up events:

What if I fail? What if my start up doesn’t do well and what if I have to shut down?

These start up owners have witnessed my hard work, dedication and learning I have been getting. There were almost 2 owners who came to me and told ‘ In case you fail , just give me a call and the very next day you will be on board. It would be my privilege to hire some one who has learnt so much at this young age’. Also, there will always be few start ups which would be ready to make you a part of their team as a co-founder.

3. There is always a job available

There are plenty of companies in the market which value the learnings you have got from your entrepreneurship experience. They will be ready to give you a role of high responsibilities with much better salary which you could not have got with a traditional career path.

The fear is fun! Embrace it. :)

Things I Learnt While Living Away From Family

Things I Learnt While Living Away From Home

Let me tell you a little story. A family once possessed a little canary. They gave it food, water, shelter and everything it ever needed. But, one day…the cage became too small for the canary…Its wings had outgrown its very own home…it was time for it to fly away. And the family being its caretaker…opened the cage. With the shining rays of the rising sun, the bird flew away.

This was one part of the story…of the canary we all possess within ourselves. Doesn’t matter how comfortable your cage is, it’s still a cage. And some day, you’ll have to fly away from your very own family, for your very own fortune. But that’s when life truly begins. Take it this way, throughout your childhood, you were living in a simulation game, which replicated the real life…Now that you move out on your own, the game actually begins.

There’s one amazing thing- doesn’t matter whether you were taught these things by your family, or not. Life, in some or the other way, will teach you. And these will eventually make the man out of the boy, &the lady out of the girl.

Taking Care of Your Money

Invest like a banker, or save like a miser, when you find your wallet already empty in the middle of the month, the oh-i-have-to-see-this movies would no longer be interesting. Better find a part time job.

Cooking for Yourself

When your stomach grumbles in the middle of the night, no friend/ chef/ lovie-dovie/ bhai-hai-apna would wake up to cook for you. Maggie (now available!) would soon become the mid-night delicacy.

Meeting people, really

For everyone in your hometown, you’ve always been Sharma jika beta or Vermajikibeti. When you go through this transition, your id changes to 3rd year walaRaju or 2nd year waali Pinky. Get used to meeting people, with your own identity.

Asking for help

Yes, it isn’t that simple. Back at home, everyone in the neighborhood was your extended family. But in hostel, if you can’t ask for help…you better grow 6 more hands, and 2 more legs to get all the work done in time!

24 hours/ day is hoax

When you finish up your 3rd cup of coffee, and the clock ticks 3 in the morning, but you need to finish up your assignment…even the shining moon from your window will soon wish you good bye, as the sun would come saying good morning…While you’re still working!

Most importantly, it teaches you how to live. Not things like breathing, eating, running, or sleeping…But breathing calmly, when you find your wallet empty. Eating when the food is shitty, but you’re hungry. Running while being 15 mins late for the class…and sleeping in the class…because the night was too small for you to finish up the assignments, and yet sleep. You’ll see the worst and best of yours…just be there, take a deep breath…and smile.

Who will get eliminated from Bigg Boss 9 on third week?

Who will get eliminated in Fourth Week of Bigg Boss 9!

First two eviction predictions were kind of tough. But this one is pretty easy. But before we predict 3rd eviction of the ninth season of the most popular TV reality show Bigg Boss, let’s talk about our last predictions. Our first prediction for this season didn’t come out true but, last week as we had predicted, Roopal Tyagi got evicted from Bigg Boss 9. This week, six contestants are nominated for eviction. Mandana Karimi, Keith Sequeira, Rimi Sen, Arvind Vegda, Vikas Bhalla and Digangana Suryavanshi are nominated for eviction on 3rd week. Now it’s pretty obvious that Arvind Vegda, who hasn’t contributed anything on the show is leaving the house on 3rd week. But let’s look at it objectively. Keith Sequeira is the strongest of all nominated contestants. Mandana comes second in the list. Rimi Sen is not giving content to the show, but with the fact that she hates the show, Bigg Boss will keep her to torture her. So Rimi is safe too. Vikas Bhalla, too is not giving content along with Arvind Vegda. But considering the potential of drama he can create, he will be saved from this elimination. Digangana started talking for the first time after her partner Roopal got evicted last week. But that’s it. Only for a day. Have a look at the eviction ratio to know who is going home this weekend.

Eviction Ratio

Chances of getting evicted of particular contestant.

  1. Arvind Vegda (70%)
  2. Digangana Suryavanshi (17%)
  3. Vikas Bhalla (13%)
  4. Rimi Sen (0%)
  5. Mandana Karimi (0%)
  6. Keith Sequeira (0%)

So according to us, Arvind Vegda will surely get evicted from Bigg Boss 9 on third week and will be seen leaving the house on 1st November 2015’s episode. If they are saving Arvind (which is very rare), Digangana Suryavanshi and Vikas Bhalla are next in line.

Double Eviction on Third Week

Bigg Boss announced double eviction on third week on 30th October’s episode. Hence Arvind Vegda is leaving the house for sure. And along with them either Digangana or Vikas will get eliminated. More chances of Digangana going home.

Let see if we are right this time. Stay tuned to BuddyBits for stories from Bigg Boss and around the world. Write down your views in comments.

Two Engineers are Trying to Connect People with Same Personality!

Two Engineers are helping people connect with people of same personality

We often try to check our personality by taking several tests through social media websites. But most of them are useless and untrue. An engineer from Vadodara also did the same, but was not satisfied with the results. Vishal Vatnani along with his friend Manan Jadav developed a website which tells you your exact personality and help you find people with same personality. Find out more about this wonderful product Utonexus in our conversation with Vishal Vatnani.

Tell us something about Utonexus.

Utonexus is an online social networking tool that helps connect people with similar personality types. What more do you need from your social life than the people you know will understand and accept you for who you are?

People with similar personality types perceive and project their outer and inner worlds respectively, in a tremendously compatible way.

The method we use for personality determination is based on Jung’s theory of 16 personalities. Apart from meeting people with similar personality types, you may also read the description of your type and gain a greater insight into how you function.

Tell us something about the founders.

We (Vishal Vatnani and Manan Jadhav) together co-founded Utonexus in late August 2015. We’re both engineering students at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institue of Technology, located in Vasad in Gujarat. We live in Vadodara and have a profound passion for Computers and out of the tesseract ideas.

What’s the story behind Utonexus? How was it born?

In 2013, I was quite at dismay after finding out that by the time I entered into the second year of my college, most of my friends faced detention for not being able to clear the finals. I was forced to become a loner but soon found a group of friends who accepted me into their circle. Things didn’t work out between all of us, and soon I found out that I was all by myself time after time, in the college social life. I was tired of being labelled as an outcast and a weirdo, and so I decided to invest my time into something that I had an primordial attachment with; Technology and Humanities.

I started formulating algorithms that would consider all kind of social factors and determine the future behaviour of an individual. At some time around in 2014, I happened to meet Manan Jadhav, my dear and intelligent friend plus co-founder. We shared a keen interest in how technology could change the society for good and what the future of computing was.

I used to call Manan in the middle of the night to discuss ideas that I had, and he used to come up with an improved solution to it the next day. Once we stumbled upon a remarkable observation that all the social groups that we had in college consisted of people with similar behavioural traits. I personally started asking these groups to take the MBTI test online, and compared their results. We were exhilarated to see that the most promising groups consisted of people with similar personality types.

That’s how Utonexus was born.

What else you guys do except running Utonexus?

For now, we’re pursuing bachelor’s degree in IT engineering. Manan is an active member of Google Developers Group (GDG), Baroda and GDG Ahmedabad. He is also the technical lead at thecollegestore.in, which is yet another startup. Apart from that, he has keen interest in open source technologies, and has also contributed to the development of few.

Manan is in his second year of his engineering programme.

I (Vishal Vatnani) am in the final year of his engineering programme and am developing an education version of Utonexus as a part of my final year project.

What is the Unique Selling Proposition of Utonexus?

Utonexus is the picture of a smart and socially strategic society that we will see in the next decade. People who value intelligence over matter, those who value anything else over intelligence, and almost every kind of people you know, will soon find out that being in a fast and open social network is not only necessary for making a harmonious society, but also for making the most of our limited time on this planet.

We have created a utility for the mankind. The theory of Jung’s personality type existed, but before us, nobody in the world had come up with a site that matched people’s personality in a way we do.

What is your future plan with Utonexus?

We plan on adding improvements and getting as many feedbacks as we can to make our site even better. We’re developing a module for the corporate team organization, using which the corporates can easily distinguish the natural talents of their employees and have an efficient team organization. Then there’s an education module which will help create a better understanding of students by the professors, that we’re also developing parallelly.

In the future, you will see many startups copying the trend that Utonexus will create. But we are here to stay, and we have a long road ahead of us.

What keeps you motivated?

Knowing that we touched someone’s life by making them see that there are people out there who are sure to be compatible with them, or at least share their interests and passion so that they can work together to create some music, software or flair; is something that tells us that Utonexus is not a startup. Utonexus is the future of the society.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?

You need to realize that everybody is given the same number of hours in a day as everyone else. If you don’t find yourself thinking about your product all the time, if you don’t see your product in a way that nobody else except you and your co-founder(s) do, then change your product. Keep looking for what you love.

One day you’ll know in your heart that everything else falls under the domain of irrelevancy. The curtains of illusion will slide away, and finally you’ll have that perseverance to keep your project running in the brightest mornings and the darkest after hours.

What do you think about BuddyBits?

As long as the content on BuddyBits is meant for the intellectuals and idealists, it will always have a chance of standing out from the crowd of audience hungry e-magazines who post anything that will help them get more likes on their Facebook page. Our first impression for BuddyBits was of a decent e-journal that looks promising and had an intelligent collection of articles that made sense.

Well, thanks a lot Vishal for your words. I personally took the test at Utonexus and was amazed to see the results. It showed my exact personality on the basis of few questions I answered. We wish you all the best for all your future endeavours.

Want to know your personality and want to meet people wish same personality as you? Take the test at Utonexus now.

10 Steps to Start a New Business

If you are planning to start a business, you need to know a few basic things. Here’s a list of 10 things you should focus on when you are planning to start a business.

1. Write a Business Plan

Create the road map that you will be using to achieve your business goals for 3-5 years. Your business plan is basically the route you intend to take to grow your business. The key points to consider here are: Executive summary, Company Description, Market Analysis, Organization Service or Product, Marketing & Sales

2. Get Business Assistance and Training

Proper training is necessary if you plan to be successful in your business. This may or may not be official certificate courses. Make sure you have all the basic skills required for doing your business. There are a lot of courses available online. You can opt for correspondence courses if you don’t have the time to attend a college. There are a lot of books out there that can provide you with the necessary knowledge to run your business

3. Choose a Business Location

Choosing your business location can be the deciding factor in the success or failure of a small business or a startup. So it requires a lot of careful planning and research. Factors like your budget, zoning laws, supply chain and locations of your competitors are important while choosing a location

4. Finance Your Business

You need to get proper funding to start your business and keep it running. Carefully scope out all potential funding sources. Government backed loans, Venture Capital and Research Grant are preferred sources here.

5. Determine the Legal Structure of Your Business

Choose the kind of ownership you want your company to be under: sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability Company (LLC), corporation, S corporation, nonprofit or cooperative. Choosing the kind of ownership for your business is the key to avoiding legal or regulatory problems in the future.

6. Register a Business Name

Your brand name is your first marketing tool. So choose wisely and register your business with this name. You will be doing business with this name only. Your business will be recognized as per your registered name for all legal purposes.

7. Get a Tax Identification Number

The Tax-payer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique number that is allotted by Commercial tax department of respective State. The TIN is used to identify dealers registered under VAT. Generally, a business needs a TIN. You must check with your state to determine if you need a state number or charter.

8. Register for State and Local Taxes

You need to register with your state to obtain a tax identification number. In addition to business taxes required by the central government, you will have to pay some state and local taxes too. Each state and locality has its own tax codes and laws. So study them and register wherever it is needed.

9. Obtain Business Licenses and Permits

Research to know about all the licenses you will need to get your business operational legally. Apply for all applicable permits and licenses, required by both state and central laws.

10. Understand Employer Responsibility

There are a lot of legal responsibilities involved with hiring employees. There are Central regulations and then there are local requirements. You need to research all regulation and laws before you start employing.

Who will get eliminated in Fourth Week of Bigg Boss 9!

So, three out of four of our Bigg Boss 9 eviction predictions have came out to be true so far with latest eviction of Arvind Vegda and Vikas Bhalla from the most popular Indian TV reality show Bigg Boss. Last week Arvind Vegda along with Vikas Bhalla said goodbye to Bigg Boss in double eviction. This week, six contestants are nominated for the eviction from Bigg Boss’ house.

Aman Verma, Suyyash Rai, Digangana Suryavanshi, Yuvika Chaudhary, Mandana Karimi and Rimi Sen are nominated for the eviction. Considering the amount of drama Mandana is giving to the show right now, she is definitely safe. After Mandana, Aman Verma is the strongest contestant. He is the glue that can hold the house together. So he isn’t leaving the show either. And Suyyash is also potential finalist of the show considering the level of drama, fights and couple factor he is giving to the show. Hence these three contestants are definitely safe from fourth week’s eviction.

Rimi, Digangana and Yuvika are in danger zone this week. Rishabh Sinha, who has entered in the house as a wild card has a history with Digangana. Apparently, they’ve had an ugly fight in the past. And that hate relation can give content to the show. So Digangana is safe this week. Now, it’s between Rimi and Yuvika. Both of them have remain quite since day one in the house of Bigg Boss. Rimi entertained us with her one liners and her hatred for the show. Which kept her in the show till fourth week. Yuvika was quite for three weeks. But now she has started participating in tasks as well as conversations.

According to me, Rimi Sen will say goodbye to Bigg Boss this week. As, with new wild cards coming in, the show doesn’t need Rimi’s hatred for the show anymore. Have a look at the eviction ratio.

Eviction Ratio

  1. Rimi Sen (70%)
  2. Digangana Suryavanshi (30%)
  3. Yuvika Chaudhary (0%)
  4. Mandana Karimi (0%)
  5. Suyyash Rai (0%)
  6. Aman Verma (0%)

So according to us, Rimi Sen will finally say Goodbye to Bigg Boss on fourth week of the show. Rimi’s eviction will be telecasted on 8th November’s eviction episode. If not Rimi, Digangana will get eliminated from Bigg Boss 9 this time. Let’s wait for the weekend to find out if our prediction comes out to be true or not. Stay tuned to BuddyBits for updates from India and around the world.

10 Reasons Why You should Start your Business Early!

Do you want to start your own business and you think that you would save up and enter the market later, when you are “wiser”. You can be wrong about that. If you are wondering what are the benefits of starting your business early, here are some of them:

1. Your energy is at its peak

You won’t be young forever. So it’s important to utilize your energy when you have it. Starting your business in your youth means you are high spirited and are ready to tackle any difficulty that dare show you its face. You have your dreams and you want to fulfill them at any cost.

2. You are creative

As you aren’t yet exposed to the usual methods of doing business, you are more likely to come up with creative ways to deal with your problems. Starting your business at a later stage will deprive you of this freedom.

3. Fewer responsibilities

Young people have fewer responsibilities than older people. You can push yourself to the limit without stressing yourself too much. This will also give you an edge among your competitors.

4. Less Risk

As you are just starting out, you don’t have much to lose. So the risk that comes with failure is greatly reduced. Consequently, you can take on more risky ventures and experiment with new ideas while you are young.

5. Gain more working experience

If you start out young you will have more experience in your older age and will have far better chance of success. Starting out early will expose you to the market and its obstacles early. And the faster you learn the better for you.

Cons of Being an Entrepreneur!

Cons of Being an Entrepreneur!

While there are significant benefits of being an entrepreneur, it has its disadvantages too. Being your own boss can be liberating and exciting, but it comes with its own problems and added responsibilities that you don’t have to face when you are a salaried employee.

Responsibilities

If you run your own business, there is no one to hold you accountable. You have to take all the responsibilities in your own hands. All the decisions you make will be your own. All rewards and risks that come from the decisions are yours. This added burden can be too stressful sometimes. You need to look into every aspect of your business to make the most out of it.

Careful planning and research is required before making any decision. Even your work profile isn’t defined as you might have to do work from a lot of different fields by yourself i.e. accounts, sales, marketing, customer service, etc. If you have hired someone, then their paycheck is also your responsibility.

If you have problems like procrastination and lack of self-discipline, you will have a bad time being an entrepreneur.

Competition

You cannot sit still and relax. Your competition surely isn’t going to. You have to compete in the market and beat all of your competitors, sometimes just to keep your company running. It’s a constant struggle to corner the market. Sometimes you even have to work for almost nothing just to get the customer base necessary. Your paycheck isn’t fixed so you have no security. Your sales are your paycheck.

If you company needs specialized skill then you also have to compete in the job market. That means that you will have to offer better salaries and perks to get the best people for the job. Sometimes you even have to gamble on the skills of freshers to try and gain an edge in the market.

No Routine

A salaried employee has the convenience to plan his activities around his work schedule which is often fixed. An Entrepreneur works around the clock. There is no fixed schedule to anything. An entrepreneur has to plan every second of his day to get the most out of it. Having no fixed schedule also means losing out on socializing. You rarely have a day off and that does not necessarily mean that your friends will also have a holiday. From calls to meetings to travelling to meetings again, you will not have much time for yourself. So you might feel lonely, and alienated from the rest of the world.

Risk

Success is never guaranteed in the market. Many entrepreneurs have started a company and failed, even if they gave it their best. There is always the possibility that you could go bankrupt. The risk of failure of startups is even higher.

Your ability to manage risk might be the determining factor in your success or failure. Things will often go wrong. You have to handle all of it on your own. You have to be able to take on failures and bounce back from them.

Don’t be an Ostrich. Face the Problem Head-on.

Don't be an Ostrich. Face the Problem Head-on.

When an ostrich comes across a problem, enemy or fearful situation it puts head in to the sand and feel secure. It feels that just because it has avoided the problem and pretend to be normal it has solved the problem, Guess what happens then? It gets eaten up,

You can avoid the problem but not the consequences of avoiding problem.

It is a human tendency that we try to ignore problems, We do not want to deal with them head on. We pretend that everything is normal and procrastinate. Our insecurities are not admitted because we don’t want to think about them. It scares us.

  • We procrastinate a tough but must have conversations.
  • Bills are pushed to the side to deal with later.
  • People we have troubles with are avoided.
  • Work we don’t want to do is avoided while we browse useless information on Facebook.

This psychology of avoidance, unfortunately, does not work. We put these things off and the problems only fester and grow worse. Bills become late and interest racks up and eventually we’ll have to deal with the bills, but they’ll be much worse than if we’d only dealt with them immediately. Our work becomes late, our waistlines become bigger, our insecurities grow.

Same happens with avoiding difficult conversations. If we repress our emotions and thoughts for too long it affects our well being badly.

Not facing the problems isn’t the solution, Instead, let’s turn toward our problems. Let me share an example from my own life.

This realization helped me when I was 97 kg of weight 2 years ago (Yeah, I was) and trying to avoid thinking about it — when I turned toward the problem, as scary as that was, I was able to deal with it.

It helped me deal with clutter, which is another form of avoidance. Clutter is about putting off dealing with items by putting them aside, and then they pile on top of each other, waiting to be dealt with.

Turning toward my weight issues allowed me to get healthier. My mom is a diabetic and  I was  literally warned by the doctor that unless you adopt the healthy life style you will have health issues at a young age. During school days I had a cycle to reach there and plenty of physical activities were part of my daily life. Situation changed after 12th standard. In college I had a bike, pocket money to use and canteen full of junk food.

On realisation and acceptance of this weight problem I had implemented only 2 things.

  • Walking for 40 minutes a day and light weight training for 20 minutes.
  • Consciously making healthy food choices.

Result was fascinating: I reduced 19 kg in 8 months. :)

Facing the problem has helped my start-up journey, my relationships, my inner peace.

Turning toward a problem is scary as hell. That’s why we normally avoid it. But you can overcome that fear and do it anyway. It is easy and simple. It just require awareness to identify such tendency then acceptance and taking a small first step towards it. That’s it ! You can look the problem directly in the face and open yourself up to it. Only then can you deal with it, and see that it’s not as scary as you think. Because by turning away from the problem, we give it power, and the fear of it rules our lives. Its easier than you think.! Start NOW.

Tamasha Movie Review Tweets BuddyBits

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starter, much talked Tamasha released this week. And it received a lot of criticism on social media. Viewers certainly expected it to be another Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. But Imtiaz Ali, once again makes it different from just another love story. Tamasha is not a movie, it is a journey of Ved, who wants to be a storyteller but gets stuck with a job and routine of a common man. Then he meets Tara in Corsica, who changes his life. The story is so common, one can easily predict it from the trailer. But the way Imtiaz Ali has narrated it is brilliant. Check entire review in following four Tweets.
