5 Most Common Myths About Meditation

So I was introduced to the science of meditation approx 6 years ago.

And I’ve been sharing about meditation and mindfulness since then, here are some of the common myths that most of us (including me when I started out) have about meditation:

1. I have to attain the no thought state in my very first attempt.

If I’m not able to be thought free, I’m not doing it right. You cannot become a marathon runner on the very first day you start running, it takes time, practice and perseverance. Same is the case with meditation.

2. I have too many thoughts so I can’t meditate.

Well, it is mind’s nature to be constantly stimulated. The purpose of why we meditate is to silence the monkey mind. And it happens over time. You can’t be an Olympic level runner on the very first day of your practice on the track. Everything requires time.

3. I can’t control my thoughts.

Here’s the thing, you don’t have to control your thoughts. You simply have to watch them.

4. I have to gain inner peace.

Inner peace and clarity is our natural state. So in meditation, you don’t gain anything but you let go of things that hold you back from having the clarity and peace of mind.

5. I just can’t let go.

Simply let go. There is no 5 step formula to let go. You simply let go. That’s it. It’s simple. If you can’t let go, keep letting go till you can easily let go. It’s a practice. You become better by doing more of it.

10 Disgusting Lines from Chetan Bhagat's Books

Chetan Bhagat might be the most famous writers of India. His books break the market and ample numbers of copies are sold in the very initial days of release. I remember when I used to read his books like ‘Five Point Someone’, ‘2 States’ and as he penned more work, came more books and made me realize that some of the quotes/ lines in his books are either the words of a ‘feminazi’ or someone who doesn’t know what is happening. We have summed up 10 Disgusting Quotes written by Chetan Bhagat which made us feel, you’ll see…

#01

Do they need it bro?

#02

There might be some people who might not agree with what I said; this is my Point of view which could be of others as well. The quotes defined above are taken from various books of Chetan Bhagat like Half Girlfriend, Revolution 2020, 2 States, etc.

5 Ways We Are Killing Our Planet Earth

Well, we don’t know about God’s heaven and hell but we sure as hell know about our own heaven that is the mother earth on which we were born. There are umpteen destinations on this beautiful planet of ours that will make you feel like heaven on earth and will make you feel like settling down right then and there. But then, there are mega cities that are built by tearing down beautiful lush green forests resulting in number of species of plants and animals getting extinct. There are many things even we do unknowingly in our daily lives, that are slowly killing our mother nature. Here, in this article, we have mentioned some of the little things that we all do that harm our planet in a monstrous way.

1. Plastic is lethal

Plastic is deemed as the enemy of the nature due to its characteristics of not getting decomposed ever! We use things that are made of plastic and throw it off in the garbage. When the garbage truck takes it away, it throws the garbage at a dumping land where the garbage remains for months before getting picked for recycling. And if it is a plastic that gets buried in the ground, it will be there forever even after million years. Thus, it results in soil pollution and the quality of the soil decreases due to plastic embedded in it. From extremely thin polythene bags to even the hardest of plastic cases, they all are noxious to our planet earth.

2. Industrial waste

This is one of the biggest factors on the planet that fuels global warming. There are thousands of small, medium and large scale industries all over the world which produce tons of thousands of products. While production process is ongoing in these factories, there are often some By-products and waste that is extracted on the side. The by-products are usually used for some other purpose and the waste is always thrown out of the industry into a river or a sea. If the waste is a gaseous substance, then it is let out in the atmosphere through the sky high chimneys to dissipate into thin air. These waste products pollute sea and air immensely. The waste that is drained into the river often kills all the marine life in it and turns the river water black. Thus, the waste disposed form the industries are harmful to us as well as our planet earth and plays a major role in slowly bringing down the earth.

3. Using cellphone

It is a certitude that using cellphone is harmful to our health as well as other creatures present on the planet. The radio signals that cellphone emit is hazardous as it affects your mind. The signal is also known to affect bees and their life cycle. Einstein once said “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live”

4. Vehicles

You may love your brand new car that you bought. Congratulations, but you have actually done nothing good rather than just speeding up the process by a tiny percentage that is killing the earth. Vehicle emission is also one of the major threat that leads to global warming. Vehicles running on gasoline and diesel emit a hazardous gas named carbon monoxide. It causes lung diseases, fatigue and causes many other breathing problems. It is considered as fatal. There are billions of vehicles on the road around the world and they all emit some amount of this noxious Carbon monoxide gas which is slowly taking the world towards the end.

5. Tearing down trees

It may be a small thing to cut own a tree for your own good but tearing down entire forests is a hell of a big deal. Human beings need facilities and for that, they build big megacities by tearing down forests and thousands of trees. This affects the ecosystem and as a result, affects global warming positively. Trees are an important part of our ecosystem because they help us with providing clean air and by attracting rain. If there are no trees, there will be no rain and thus, it will result in shortage of water and also some serious air pollution which will choke our planet to death.

Being A Girl

Being A Girl

Being a girl has never been easy for us. We are the most astounding creation of God. We are ought to have all the blessings of life but that’s not true. Being a girl itself is a challenge. We are allowed to dream but clasped tightly when we try to achieve them. We are made to study hard and earn accolades just to make sure that we settle down with a perfect groom. We are taught sturdy lessons about life but stopped when we try to step out of our cocoons. We are raised to hustle like a man but always had been asked to tone down when we stand upright for our rights. It’s easily said by all that our daughter is our son but it’s difficult to own that notion. Trying to be oneself is never wrong. We own the burden of being girls. We are bounded by the shallow thoughts of the society. You never understand how tough it is for us to be Strong and smile in midst of the hobble. That’s the beauty of being girls. We have to strike between emotions and our aspirations. Why we are always told to adjust and compromise. We are asked to take a call between career & family. We as always being the flag bearer of emotions choose the later, killing ourselves 1000 times within. Don’t preach about women empowerment when you are not ready to embrace it. Its okay if I wish to pursue a career, it’s perfectly fine if I don’t marry its okay if I want to be independent. We have a birth right. Teach us how to lead life; please don’t seize those rights from us.

Dear Men, Here is How To Nail Your First Date!

Well, let’s just say that you have been going to this guitar classes for about a month now and there is a super cute girl who gives you butterflies in your stomach. What do you do? How do you take her on a date? Directly go and ask her out? Well, you could do that but there are very less chances that it will work. And once it fails, you are never gonna get her because you have just repelled her away by asking her out too soon. You gotta take it slow, have patience and try one move at a time to reach the point where you can actually ask her out. You need to make a good rapport with faint signals of attraction from your side and look for her response in order to successfully ask her out on a date! She should know, you mean business and you are not just another guy hitting on her. We have got you some tips here to enhance your game! Read on fellas!

1. Plan the date!

When you go out on a date, you need to plan everything. From the clothes you’re gonna wear to the place you’re gonna go and whatnot. Be ready with where and when the date will be. Remember, women love when men take charge of the situation and lead. You could go to a movie date but then there will be no talking in the darkness and yeah right, like you’re gonna make out on the first date. LOL. So pick a place somewhat nice and calm where you can look in her eyes and woo the hell out of her! You need to connect to her on an emotional level and genuinely be interested when she is saying. So, pick a peaceful place with moderate privacy like a coffee shop or a romantic restaurant! The place should be a date place and should be soothing and slightly romantic at the same time with some light hearted music playing in the background. You can also go for bowling, mini gold, table tennis, beer pong, game centre etc. where you can laugh about your poor golf and gaming skills even if you don’t have anything in common to talk about. Also, be kind enough to ask if you should pick her up from her place for the date. If she says yes, then show up with flowers right at time. (Don’t get red roses, okay maybe one or two surrounded by bunch of other flowers!)

2. Talk your heart out!

Okay, now once you are there; she said yes already and wanna be with you right there and then. So, don’t bore her and put her in awkward situations. Don’t let the conversation stop. Keep taking and asking her questions about herself, her friends, hobbies etc. Don’t let her feel like she is being interrogated. It is a give and take thing, you see. You ask something and get a reply and then you tell something about yourself related to the same topic even without her asking. Make her feel special and let her know that you are interested in her and only her by avoiding any distractions around the place and look her right in the eyes with a broad smile! Be creative, funny, a little bit flirty while you talk and contain the conversation very casually. And remember, always give a compliment! Women love when her efforts of looking beautiful pay off. Notice something very unique in her (like color of her eyeliner or her cute hairband or something) and give a smooth compliment!

3. Be confident

Be a gentleman and hold open the door for her. Sure, she must be an independent woman but you need to treat her like a queen if you wanna be her king. Do not freak out. She probably has said yes to you because along with the other things, she liked your confidence too. And she is here! Be confident in what you say. Sit in an upright position and look directly in her eyes while you say something. Maintaining a good body language is important because 80% of the talking you do is through your body language. If it’s not right, she will know that you are nervous and under confident. And if you can stop trembling or feeling nervous, you might as well directly be honest to her and say something like “Gosh! You are looking so beautiful that it is making me nervous!’. Trust me, she will appreciate your honesty.

4. Offer to pay!

Don’t hold back when the waiter gets the check. Pay for the date and be a gentleman. Even if she refuses, you must insist on paying it full. If she is really being independent and still want to pay for herself, let her. This shows that you care for her and you value what she says.

5. Say goodbye!

After all is said and done, when it’s time to say good bye, don’t hold back on a handshake, hug or a kiss and leave her standing awkwardly. Take the charge and go for it and she’ll definitely play along. Be a gentleman and ask if you could drop her to her place. If she says yes, then drop her off and say the goodbye at her door. If she says no, at least offer to call her a cab or something. Tell her to just buzz you once she reaches home safely. And if you had a good time, don’t wait over all those stupid 3 day rules. Just tell her the next day that you had a great time and wanna hangout again whenever possible.

Have a good one fella! Go ahead and make her all yours and tell us how it worked out for you. We’re all ears!

5 Ways To Lead A Happier Life

The only thing you need in this world is to be happy! If you are not happy, you are not even alive. When you are happy, you glow and when you are not, it shows. But sometimes with all this negativity around you in this bustling fast moving world, being happy becomes herculean. All the worries and angst in your world crash down on you to make you sad. But, if you learn to beat it and stay happy anyway, you are alive and noting can stop you from being happy! You can be happy for infinite reasons and here are some quick ways we have thought to mention just for you!

1. Love heartily!

Love with your whole heart and live with your whole heart! Never give upon the one you love and never ever let them down. Remember, you are just a reflection of how your loved respond to you. So, when you get sour responses from them, you must accept that it’s time for you to ameliorate and change! Love is one of the strongest emotions you can exchange with anyone and once you find out the right person, your purpose of life is fulfilled!

2. Never belittle or criticize.

When you criticize someone for saying or doing something that you don’t like irrespective of whether it’s wrong or right, you make an enemy of that person. Remember, better a friend made than an enemy at all times. If you don’t like something of that person, just go ahead and directly speak to them very gently and tell them how you feel about it. 9 out of 10 times you will get a positive response and achieve what you want with even a stronger bond with that person!

3. Try to spread glee

If you feel dull, down and defeated by the pressure of the cruel word, try to make other people happy. Studies have proved that people who try to make other people happy often find their own happiness in them. When you see someone achieving their goals and getting lit up just for you, you feel gratified and feel grand to be alive.

4. Remember the small things

Take care of your loved ones and remember the small things like birthdays, anniversaries etc. Bring them a present too, if possible. They will realize your important in your life and know that you truly care and think about them despite your busy and hectic life. When you do this, they will feel loved and they will be there for you when you need them in any point of your life. It’s a give and take situation, you see.

5. Stay humble

This is a magic trick right here. Sport a smile and be modest when you talk to others no matter how rich, poor or whatever they maybe. When you give love and respect through your tone of voice, you get it in return too! If you learn to be humble to everyone and stay calm, the world will fall to your feet and make you the king. You’ll make pals that will have your back till the end and even after that. So, stay loving, humble and sport a broad pleasing

10 Things About Guys That Girls Don’t Know

10 Things About Guys That Girls Don’t Know

It is quite common that a girl would say that she knows her guy, and the guy would say ‘It is hard to understand women’. There are ample numbers of things that we don’t know about each other, we guys might not know that a WWE Fight might excite a girl, and girls you don’t know a lot of things about us. So today we have summed up 10 Things guys do that we would never want you to know. (Sorry bros!)

1. We Gossip!

We guys gossip more than girls do! We know everything about everyone. Who broke up with whom, who is cheating, who is going to give which exam and who is moving out of state, Kiski mummy ne kisko dhoya and kyu dhoya!, We know EVERYTHING!

2. We are not all into rap and hip hop, we have our girl jams as well!

Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Coldplay might be our favourite. But every guy has his private girl jam that they would die for. For e.g., ADELE is Love. Queen B- Beyonce! We love ‘em as well!

3. You have your girl-friends, we have our bros!

But we keep it as low-key as possible. You guys might break-up, but once a bro, always a bro! We love our bros more than we love anything else, and we would do anything to see our bro happy! (not exactly, but we can beat the shit out of him and he would still love us, so…)

4. Men can also be Feminists.

It is not necessary that you must be a woman to be a feminist. We understand the issue, and we support feminism as well, even we can gather up and march for your rights and of gender equality. ‘Feminazism’ is what we hate.

5. We also care about our looks.

We care about our looks, and we always will. Especially , our hair! A man loves his hair more than a woman. Daily, we have our routine, which you’ll never know. Only negative point we have is, Winters, kon nahata hai winter me? Kitni thaand hoti hai pata hai? But then, what are deos made for, right?

6. We get nervous.

Before dates, before talking to the girl we don’t know anything about, before having a look of our crush, before any interrogation session in class or work, WE GET NERVOUS AF!

7. We think about our future.

This is a serious one, we think about our future all the time, what will we do, how will we earn money, what will happen if we sleep for 24 hours straight and bunk this semester off!

It’s fun sometimes.

8. We Cry.

We have spent nights crying our heart out. We have cried when something bad happens to someone we love, human or animal. We cry when the girl we love or like, leaves us because ‘we are not meant for each other’. We also have a sensitive side, we just choose not to show it.

9. Not all of us hate shopping.

Apparently, when we shop, we take 15-30 minutes to get inside the mall, and get outside of it. We are clear when it comes to our choice. We love shopping, what we hate is, hours and hours of wait. (P.S. We prefer online shopping.)

10. We have a heart!

This one is for the feminazis. We have a heart, we get hurt when you defame us for no reason, we get hurt when due to some perverts; you hate us. You compare yourself with us, when we didn’t even ask you to. We never said that you are below or above us, you are equal to us! And we will never hesitate to protect you, and when time comes or need arises, we expect you to protect us too, if not, where is the equality?

There are many things you don’t know about us and will never know about us, we only wish for you to understand, and one more thing, read the 8th and 10th point again.

Everything you need to know about Talk Shop, Directors-only talk show!

India Film Project’s newest initiative, Talk Shop, is all set to launch on June 9th. In a country celebrating cinema, where we praise our movie stars, much has not been said about the person who puts in his sweat to make a film happen.

In an endeavor to explore the real heroes of cinema, or as we say – the heroes who make heroes, India Film Project brings to you a talk show with some of the best film directors of the country. The first season will entail guests such as Sujoy Ghosh, Abhishek Chaubey, Shakun Batra, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Rahul Dholakia, Ram Madhvani, Shashank Khaita, TVF for which shooting is completed and Ashutosh Gowariker, Dibakar Banerjee, Hansal Mehta and Vikramaditya Motwane for which shooting will commence soon.

The purpose of Talk Shop is to introduce these directors to masses. Usually, a film director only comes in front of the camera during their film promotions. As we put it – we don’t get stars, we get star makers. Not only will each episode include casual, fun conversation, but it will also be rich in knowledge about what goes on behind the scenes of a movie as well as the process of its creation.

The show is divided into four segments, namely ‘Build a scene’, ‘Getting real’, ‘Rapid Fire’ and a game segment that involves handing out awards, remaking existing films and more. The first season consists of 10 episodes conducted in English, each lasting 20-25 minutes.

A key element of Talk Shop is that it presents the creativity of these Directors to its viewers through the segments conducted on the show, such as ‘Build a scene’ which requires the guests to come up with a movie scene impromptu based on a scene, prop and character provided on the spot. IFP has chosen to air this show on the web as it is deemed to be a much more convenient platform, especially to a target audience aged in their 20’s.

Ritam Bhatnagar, founder of India Film Project and Talk Shop, quotes”Each year, more than 30,000 people participate in our festival and make thousands of films in 50 hours. These participants have always written to us about their curiosity in interacting with established filmmakers and knowing more than just their wiki pages and promotional interviews. We thought, if not us then who?”

The show will be aired online on IFP’s YouTube channel every Friday at 4.00 pm. The first episode of season 1 will commence on Friday, 9th June at 4pm.

10 Things About Girls That Guys Don't Know

The world’s most confusing species, aren’t we? Our yes can mean a yes and it can mean a no and it can also mean a maybe, you know? When we tell you to leave, we want you to protest to stay! (Have you seen 13 reasons why? 😝) When we drop subtle hints, it’s because we want you to notice a minute change in our appearance that isn’t even always visible to the naked eye! Most of the times, even we don’t know what we want! After lots (some) research and asking my guy friends, I’ve compiled a cheat sheet to help you navigate through the troubled waters that is a relationship with a girl- any relationship. Go ahead, decode!

1. Not all of us like roses.

Because they’re cliched. Some women LOVE orchids, because they’re rare and beautiful, but the trick with roses is to get the colour right- remember, white is for peace, yellow for friendship, and red for love! They’ll know that so do not screw up and if your girl isn’t a flowers and hearts type, skip the flowers altogether.

2. Some of us get offended if you always pick up the cheque.

Not because we’re feminists. Doing it on the first date is fine, but doing it always irritates us. We do not want to depend on anyone for our food and can pay for our share. Do not overreact and be so firm in paying the bill that you lose the girl- it’s better to go Dutch at times.

3. Not all of us are feminazis.

We might be feminists, the educated ones who fight for equal rights and not the “women are better than men” feminazis who hate all men. No, we do not think all of you are pigs. Come talk to us. We’ll sometimes even sympathise on you for the reservation and perks we get at times for being a woman.

4. We’d rather stay at home and order in pizza then (sometimes!) get ready for a date.

Do you know how much time it takes to shave our legs? And do makeup? And look amazing? Hours! We’d rather just order in some pizza and wine (or coke), sit in our pajamas with you, and watch reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

5. A date need not always be fancy.

Some girls like high-end fancy schmoozy places to eat, while some girls get really unconfortable in those places. Some of us are more of a burger, pizza and coke type, while some even appreciate having their first date in a sports restaurant!

6. We don’t always look for a knight in shining armour.

Not every girl wants to be a damsel in distress. You do not need to save us all the time. Remember Four/Tobias from Divergent? Believe in our strength and let us deal with our shit ourselves at times.

7. We appreciate it when you notice something different.

The hair, the makeup, the decorations, the dress, or even the manner in which we behave with you- we don’t always expect you to notice, which is how you get an upper hand and get the woman pleasantly surprised by noticing and complimenting her on a change.

8. We probably (always) have a secret crush that no one knows about.

Not even our best friends.

9. We don’t always want you to do what we tell you to do.

Right? Because when we say leave, we want you to protest and cuddle and stay! Our mock fights are to be resolved in more love at the end! We pretend to be irritated but love it if you do something special for us!

10. We don’t always want you to do the opposite of what we tell you to do.

Equally true. Sometimes “leave” does mean she wants you to leave. And when she says that she doesn’t see this working out, she’s not playing hard to get, she is just not interested. Do not scratch your head so much and always do the opposite of what she tells us- she might even smack you in your head if you always read her wrong!

With all this knowledge and wisdom out there, we hope you have better luck decoding us. Remember, even we haven’t figured ourselves out completely! So see, hope for you guys! All the best and let us know which tip helped the best 🙂

Dear Women, Here is How To Nail Your First Date!

Dear Women, Here is How To Nail Your First Date!

Who thinks that only men get nervous for their first date? Even we have shivers! Even we overthink about a thousand different things- what to wear, how to talk, and how the date could go in so many ways, trust us, we’ve probably thought of all the scenarios. We’ve probably texted all our best friends with “What if this happens?” and “Should I bring this topic up or not?” and of course, the dress options. That’s what we all normally do, but here’s how to nail your first date (pun unintended) perfectly:

1. Do not overdo it.

Not with the makeup, not with the clothes, and not with the jewelry. Not with the enthusiasm, not with the sarcasm, not with the “cute” behavior (you know what I’m talking about!) Guys get attracted to simplicity- your makeup should dazzle him, not blind him! Keep it minimal but look fantastic, which will give you the confidence for the date.

2. Be yourself.

Yes. Very important- do not fake it. Because if it goes well, you’ll have to conjure more lies to cover up that one simple lie- for example, that you love reading when you think it’s boring! Remember, the guy is there with you to know you. Give him an opportunity to know the real you. Be honest, be real, be yourself.

3. Ask questions.

People love to talk about themselves- it’s a well-known fact. Ask lots of questions. If anything he says interests you, express genuine interest and ask follow-up questions too. Take interest in his life, and get to know him. But remember the first point, and do not make it an interview either!

4. Take initiative.

Take charge. Be it ordering, or starting a conversation, or the first one to hold hands- do not be afraid! If you want to hold his hand, do not overthink too much and wait for him to make the first move. Take initiative, be proactive, and offer to pay the bill too- do not assume that because it is a date, he would naturally pay the bill! Even if he eventually does, offer to pay and don’t forget to thank him for the wonderful time you had.

5. Enjoy yourself.

Did we mention having a wonderful time? Yes, dates are supposed to be amazing. So, make it amazing! Enjoy yourself without being too conscious, or nervous, or clingy. If there’s live music and you feel like dancing, go do it! Laugh your heart out at his jokes. Compliment him and enjoy him blushing. Smile a lot. Order and experiment new food together. Do not hold back and not enjoy, because it would show on your face. Enjoy yourself and have an amazing date!

Have a great date, ladies! Go knock them out, out-wit them, and charm them! Tell us how it went- we’re all ears!

10 Things About Internship That No One Will Tell You

It’s what school students look forward to- because work experience! Pay! Finally a step in the goal of standing on your own feet and becoming self-sufficient! But if you’re a college student or older, you know how it really is- a mixed bag of sorts! For all those who are looking for or are in internships, we’ve listed down 10 things about internships that no one would tell you, which you only know once you’ve been in one (or many!):

1. It’s either no work.

You have time to paint your nails, play lots of games and set all your high scores in video games, or do not even need to go to work! It is when your bosses encourage you, “Arey, tum to abhi intern ho! Ghumo firo kaam hum kar lenge!”

2. Or it’s too much work.

Or you’re at the opposite end of the deal. You’re overloaded with work because who doesn’t like an underpaid worker whom you can load with because “experience”? And the best part of it all? Just when you’re about to leave, your boss remembers some important work that HAS to be finished by today!

3. It’s almost always unpaid.

Because we’re giving you “exposure” and “practical experience”! But you have to have minimum work experience before you get paid, so you work to get work which pays.

4. Or if it’s paid, it’s so less you can barely afford a pizza.

Your friends in different internships muse over the choice of getting no pay at all or getting the pay that’s laughable.

5. You’re told to “look for opportunities”

Invent work! Research till you drop! Read books, Watch videos, Look around and talk to people! This is a good thing in internships, but when it coincides with no work even after all this knowledge, it is basically all study and no work.

6. The bigger the name, lesser the important work.

Peers in internships would agree. You could always boast about getting to work in such an important company but only you know how less is the work you are assigned, and almost always it is the kind of work that makes no difference in the overall situation.

7. You can ALWAYS finish a TV show. Or loads of movies. Because no work.

When you’re left with nothing else to do, many interns handle two internships at the same time. Or catch up on their TV shows. Or catch a movie. Anything to get out of the boredom!

8. It’s always “gaining experience”, no matter how old you are.

Remember Chandler Bing in his marketing internship? If you’re changing fields or are a graduate with almost no work experience, no one shall hire you. So work to get work!

9. BYOB- Or in this case, bring your own laptop and internet.

Yes. Because the systems are for employees- but what about the internet? In a world of freedom, (sometimes) you don’t even get the company WiFi’s password!

10. Still, you’ll load up on them in your college times.

Despite everything, for the purpose on enhancing your CV, or “gaining experience”, or simply for the sake of work, internships are an amazing thing. It is like the trial period of work- plus, you can work in many fields before you choose! So this is our internship experience. What’s yours?

Bonus Point: Internship at BuddyBits!

10 Things You Shouldn’t Dare To Say To A Gujarati

10 Things You Shouldn’t Dare To Say To A Gujarati

1. What do you for a sustenance, Business?

Oh come on guys, not all Gujaratis are businessmen. They do jobs too and they relish it to the fullest. Not all Gujaratis are affluent. Those who have lands gifted to them by their antecedents are rich. But they are so many that people often generalize them as the whole state!

2. They sit around.

There is no way they would sit around. Gujaratis are hard workers. They love to have a lavish lifestyle and can go to any extent to procure it. Thus the need to have an opulent lifestyle gets them all hustling! In-fact, they curse Sundays and other holidays when they cannot go to work because it won’t make them money and waste a day in their life!

3. Che/ Cho?

It feels vexing to them when a person adds che/chu/cho after the end of every sentence and label it as Gujarati language. It’s a beautiful language of writers, poets and laureates and doesn’t deserve to be defaced like that.

4. Dhokla

It’s irking when people ask Gujaratis about the only food they known or heard about i.e. Dhokla. There are multitudinous varieties of food available in Gujarat which are just as piquant as Gujaratis themselves!

5. Do you have relatives in the US?

Shut up! Every Gujarati doesn’t have relatives outside India. Especially, in the US. Some have their relatives in Canada, London, Germany, France, Dubai and just everywhere. You name it. But then, there are some territorial Gujaratis whose entire family members are all settled in the same city! Like every one of them family members are just 5 km away from each other.

6. Your English is weak.

Gujarati’s are generally weak in English language because the ambiance of their home hails from a totally Gujarati background and don’t have single atom of English to teach or learn from. But it doesn’t really matter because Gujarati itself is a graceful language ferrying all the emotions in a blink of an eye. Sometimes, even without saying a single word! So who needs English, really?

7. There is nothing in Gujarat.

Oh yeah? How about you watch the advertise of Gujarat Tourism starring the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. The ‘Khushboo hai Gujarat ki’ sentence will precisely relate to you once when you step into Gujarat and visit many destinations that are prominent universally like the National Park in Gir, Sabarmati ashram, Somnath temple, Dwarka, Kite flying festival in Ahmedabad, Saputara and countless more!

8. It’s a dry state.

The liquor multinationals benefit the most from the state of Gujarat only. Enough said. (Side note: If you put a proscription, Humans’ penchant would be to break it.)

9. Are you a vegan?

Not at all every Gujarati is pure vegetarian. They are big time foodies and crave non vegetarian delicacies too! And at the times of festivals, they forget the meaning of the word ‘Vegetarian’ and gourmandize purely on 100% non veg food!

10. Gujarat = Narendra Modi

We all know Narendra Modi hails from Gujarat and is a Gujarati but that doesn’t mean it is the only thing that relates us to out lovely state. How about Ambanis, Irfan Pathan, Mahatma Gandhi, Sunita Williams and countless many?

10 Things Kids Used To Do Before The Internet Took Over

Can you imagine living without internet once again? The internet has totally changed our lifestyle and the perspective of communication. Nowadays it is so hard for us to leave home without our phone…and when we are at home, we usually stay glued to the Wi-Fi. It may be hard for some of us to remember what we did before the internet took over our life, but the people born before and in the early 1990s are surely going to go down the nostalgia trip reading all this.

Here are the things we did when we did not have access to the internet and I am sure these were the best days.

#01

We had a jumbo eraser on which we would carve out or write YES and NO on both the sides. This would always help us make decisions.

#02

We spent quality time with our family by watching television together, going on weekend picnic with family and close relatives and we had a verbal conversation with them instead of talking over the phone or any social media platform.

#03

Instead of downloading movies and television series from Torrentz (extremely sad that it is not there anymore), we went to video shops to hire movies and television cassettes.

#04

Whenever we for trips with either friends or family, we carried a paper map instead of having a GPS tracking system.

#05

We looked for people number in the phone diary or the big fat directory.

#06

During school group projects, we used to meet up at the library or gather at someone’s place unlike nowadays.

#07

When a new album of our favorite singer was out, we went to the music store to buy the CD as we did not have the luxury of instant download.

#08

We wrote long letters to our favorite celebrities hoping to get a reply from them.

#09

No YouTube meant we had to see our favorite television show live when it was aired.

#10

We only got one source of news in a day which was the newspapers.

Everything An Indian Bride Needs For Her Wedding Day

Congratulations!

You big day is here! You will be dolled up for your prince charming. Are you nervous about it? I am sure you will be, but try not to bring that nervousness on your face. You should look fresh and confident. Do not stress yourself in unnecessary matters.

Here is a list of things that should be ready before your big day so that you do not mess up in between.

#01

Always keep important contact details about your hair stylist, make-up artist, clothes stylist and photographer with you. Call them a day before and reconfirm the time with them.

#02

Cosmetics like foundation, lipstick, blush and kajal should be kept handy. Maybe some products that are used by the make-up artist may not suit your skin. We know you do not want to lose your natural look.

#03

While getting your make-up done, have some reference pictures with you. Show it to the artist and take his/her opinion. At the end, they know what looks the best.

#04

Do not forget to take water and energy drinks/snacks so that you do not get tired and turn dull. Also take straws along so it will be comfortable for you to drink as you would not want to spoil your lipstick.

#05

Have a pack of tissues, cotton swabs and a mini bottle of make-up remover in case of emergency.

#06

Make sure that the heels you wear are comfortable so that you do not get bitten in your feet. Just in case if you are not sure, keep band aids handy or stick them in the area where you think you may get bitten.

#07

Make sure your phone is charged. I am sure you do not want it to turn off when important things have to take place. Keep a standby power bank fully charged so that you do not cut off from others.

#08

Have a small bottle of perfume with you and wear it once you are ready. It will be really amazing if it is the one your fiancé gifted you or the one he likes. Your prince charming will really love you for the little things you do for him

#09

Keep a strip of painkillers handy as those pins keeping your hair in place are really painful as your head gets heavy.

#10

Keep your bridal wear ready for the big day. Make sure you have everything set.
